We have divided the materials included in this volume into two large sections: “The International Labor Movement” and “Revolution and Counter-Revolution in Russia.” The first section covers the last six years of the existence of the Second International before the World War (1909 – 1914), the period of war and the collapse of the Second International and the period of the birth of the Third International. The second section begins with the era of the June Third reaction in Russia and ends with 1925, thus including the years of war and the proletarian revolution, the fighters of which are dedicated to the last section. The contents of the volume are determined by its title - “Political Silhouettes " These are articles and essays mainly about individuals. The era is illuminated in them only incidentally, to the extent necessary for understanding the political and social role of the characters being characterized.
