This book is intended as a gift to someone who loves philosophy in its self-will, who likes to read philosophical texts. It is defined as a collection of philosophical essays, despite the fact that belonging to an essay cannot be formally defined: it is enough that the works included in it were called essays by their authors or readers. When a philosopher calls his text an essay, he asserts his right to willful thought, and the reader who reads the text as an essay acquires the right to willful reading. The book contains previously published works and works written specifically for it or published for the first time in Russian; it includes essays about essays, a non-exhaustive anthology of philosophical essays, and works by contemporary philosophers contributed by the authors themselves.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
