Book “David Samoilov. Memoirs. Correspondence. Essay" continues the series of books published by Vremya by the outstanding Russian poet and thinker, whose 100th anniversary of birth is celebrated in 2020 ("Daily Notes" in two volumes, "Memoirs", "Book of Russian Rhyme", "Poems" , “Everything fell to me”, “The happiness of the craft”, “From childhood”). As Andrei Nemzer notes in his introductory article, “the deep inner concentration of a true poet does not interfere with his openness to the world, but directly implies it.” Samoilov was in constant dialogue with his contemporaries. Among his correspondents are front-line comrade poet Sergei Narovchatov, childhood friend M. S. Gorbachev’s assistant Anatoly Chernyaev, generationally close to Samoilov poets, writers, scientists - Boris Slutsky, Semyon Lipkin, Arseny Tarkovsky, Vladimir Lakshin, Bulat Okudzhava, Mikhail Gasparov, Lev Kopelev, Ilya Selvinsky. As a senior comrade, he corresponds with the youth of that time - Joseph Brodsky, Evgeny Rein, Anatoly Naiman. Many texts were extracted from personal archives and have not been published before.

The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
