Guillaume Apollinaire (1890–1918) is not only a great French poet, but also a brilliant prose writer, author of the books “The Rotting Sorcerer,” “The Heresiarch and Co.,” “The End of Babylon,” etc., as well as many stories, “ fairy tales" and stories preserved in manuscripts or scattered in magazines. Apollinaire himself invariably emphasized that he considered prose no less significant for himself than poetry. The novel “The End of Babylon,” translated into Russian for the first time, paints pictures of the latest events of the era of historical Babylon, shown through the fates of characters borrowed by the author from the reality around him. Critics have repeatedly emphasized the provocative and scandalous nature of The End of Babylon, which, of course, attracts additional attention to this work.

Роман "Кінець Вавилону" Гійома Аполлінера - це не просто літературний твір, а справжня подорож у часі, що відкриває двері до розуміння складних соціальних та культурних процесів, які відбувалися в епоху Вавилону. Автор зумів майстерно поєднати елементи історії та вигадки, створюючи живі образи персонажів, які відображають реальні переживання та емоції. Читачі можуть відчути на собі атмосферу того часу, спостерігаючи за боротьбою героїв за виживання в умовах соціальних змін і політичних катастроф. Хоча деякі моменти в перекладі можуть бути трохи недосконалими, загальна якість тексту та глибина думки компенсують ці незначні недоліки. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує якісну прозу та хоче зануритися у світ, де поезія та проза зливаються в одне ціле!
