The Plague (1947) is a parable novel. A terrible disease comes to the city - and people begin to die. The city fathers, hiding the truth, make residents hostage to the epidemic. And everyone faces a choice: fight for life, look for a way out, or come to terms with the dominance of the plague and inevitable death. Many literary critics “read” in the novel the events in France during the fascist occupation. “Notes of a Rebel” are unique notes by Albert Camus from 1942–1951, dedicated to the issue of the crisis of bourgeois culture. The spontaneity of presentation, so characteristic of the writer’s early diaries, gives way to precision and power of thought - already mature, but still young passionate.
