This collection includes three famous works by Camus. “The Outsider” is the debut story of a young writer, a kind of creative manifesto. The concept of absolute freedom is the main tenet of this manifesto. The hero of this story is on trial for a murder he committed for the stupidest of all possible reasons. And this is the truth that the hero is not afraid to throw in the face of his judges, to go against everything, to forget about all conventions and to die in the name of his beliefs. “The Myth of Sisyphus” is a philosophical essay in which the author presents the meaningless and endless work of Sisyphus as a metaphor for modern society. Why do we work every day? Who needs it? A daily trip to work is the same essentially absurd work as a constant attempt to lift a stone up a mountain, from which it will still roll down. “Caligula” is a play dedicated to the Roman emperor, he is not presented in it as a historical character, a cruel tyrant , who ruined thousands of lives, but as a man of the absurd and a bearer of metaphysical rebellion. This is a tragic story about a man who put his ideals above his own life and died for them.
