(including for Apple and Android)
In modern culture, it is common to focus on achievements and ignore failures. Errors are perceived either as a chain of accidents and a minor deviation from the norm, or, on the contrary, they are overestimated - then the person who made the wrong decision is accused of incompetence and stigmatized. British journalist Matthew Syed argues that this attitude towards failure robs people and organizations of the opportunity to learn from failure, draw appropriate conclusions and change what caused the failure. He considers two systems - healthcare, in which it is customary to hide mistakes, and aviation, in which the causes of disasters are always made public. Matthew Syed shows the long-term consequences of a particular attitude towards failure, how it affects the development of the system, the people working in that system, and the end users - you and me. Syed explores the origins and consequences of failures in science, technology, jurisprudence, sports, reveals the psychological mechanisms behind hiding failures, and shows the path that everyone can take to change their attitude towards mistakes and make them the basis for future success.
