Pushkin’s life and creative path is closely connected with St. Petersburg. He was first brought here, to the banks of the Neva, as a child in 1800. Here, in a house on the Moika embankment, the poet’s life tragically faded away. In his work, Pushkin constantly turned to the theme of St. Petersburg, which increasingly fascinated him. In the prime of his creative powers, the poet created the poem “The Bronze Horseman” - an unsurpassed hymn to the northern capital. What was St. Petersburg like during the time of Pushkin, in the first third of the last century?
