The novel by the famous English writer S. Brontë (1816–1855) “The Town” is the story of a young Englishwoman, Lucy Snow, who was orphaned early and found herself completely alone and without a livelihood. The heroine has to overcome many difficulties, face hypocrisy and injustice, experience severe disappointments, loss of illusion and the collapse of hopes for happiness.
