The name of Charlotte Bronte, one of the most popular English writers, author of the novel "Jane Eyre", is known all over the world. Her literary talent manifested itself quite early. As children, Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell Brontë, the children of a parish priest, read books from their home library and came up with games and stories that gave rise to their further creativity. Young Charlotte tried her hand at different genres; her works contain romance, adventure, and fiction; they contain both authorial irony and polemical fervour. However, over time, love becomes the main theme of Charlotte Brontë. This edition includes her stories and novellas from 1829–1834, as well as stories by her brother Branwell. Translator E. Dobrokhotova-Maikova writes in the preface: “To trace step by step the development of a daring, unexpected talent that amazed contemporaries and continues to amaze posterity - for this alone, Charlotte’s early books deserve the most careful reading.”
