The collection “Polish Corpses” includes stories by 15 authors representing a wide variety of literary traditions and movements. It is opened by the famous detective master Joanna Chmielewska, who is joined by the famous poet Martin Świetlicki, the talented young prose writer Sławomir Szhuty, the critic and publicist Piotr Bratkowski and others. The stories collected in “Polish Corpses” are extremely diverse. The authors of some seriously observe the laws of the genre, others have chosen an ironic, or even grotesque, manner of storytelling. Everywhere there is an intricate detective intrigue, criminals, detectives - professionals and amateurs; the background against which the action develops, realities that allow us to learn a lot about the everyday life of Poland, is expressively outlined. The characters are all bright and convincing. In general, the collection is an example of an anthology of the detective genre, clearly demonstrating both the diversity of possibilities of the genre itself, and the specificity of the writing of the authors who turned to it. Reading such an anthology is not just fascinating - it allows you to see how great the variety of manners, styles, and approaches to a long-established, seemingly established genre that obeys classical laws is.
