The new book by Naum Sindalovsky contains proverbs, sayings, puns, whose appearance is associated with St. Petersburg. Some of them go back to the first years of the city’s existence, but are still used in the speech of St. Petersburg residents to this day. Folklore offers us its history of the city and its inhabitants, in which political and cultural events coexist with the details of everyday life. Equally relevant for folklore, they characterize from different sides several eras of the development of the state and mass consciousness.
