A Draft from the Past (1972) is Vladimir Nabokov’s next Swiss novel after Ada, in which the receptivity of consciousness and the responsiveness of the soul become, without exaggeration, matters of life and death. The tragic love story of the book's hero, Hugh Person, an assistant editor-in-chief at a major American publishing house, is intertwined with the literary and personal circumstances of his colorful client Mr. R. and brings the reader closer than ever to Nabokov's “main theme.” The novel, for the first time entitled according to the authorized version of the Russian title, is published in a new translation and is accompanied by an afterword, comments and additional materials illuminating its concept. The publishing design is preserved in PDF A4 format.
