The tragicomic novel by Chinese writer Liu Zhenyun “Mobile” (2003) is his second creation published in Russian. Like the satirical novel “I am not Pan Jinlian” (translated into Russian in 2015), “Mobilnik” tells a very Chinese, but at the same time universal, story in Liu Zhenyun’s characteristic witty manner. Popular TV presenter Yan Shouyi, having become a victim of his own cunning, his wife's jealousy and blackmail from his mistress, experiences a series of misadventures and loses his family, his job and himself. The mobile phone turns into the protagonist's Achilles heel. Based on the novel “Mobile Phone,” a film of the same name was made by the famous Chinese director Feng Xiaogang.
The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program.
