In Russia, the Ukrainian “Orange Revolution” is a subject of relaxed, complacent interest. But Maidan is not a Ukrainian, but another Russian revolution, another in a long line since 1905. Assigning a monopoly on historical justice to revolutions is a heavy legacy of the Soviet era. Recognition of the right to an alternative is a way out of the bad infinity of the “permanent revolution” from Trotsky to Yushchenko. The history of the Kyiv events, presented on behalf of their direct participants (including the compilers of the collection), is a lesson for Russia, a case when one can learn on other people's mistakes.
