This is the first publication of the Russian translation of VV Nabokov’s famous “Commentary” to Pushkin’s novel. The edition in English was published back in 1964 and has since been reprinted several times. Nabokov appears here as a philologist and literary critic, a man of enormous erudition, an excellent expert on the life and culture of Pushkin’s era. Nabokov the commentator is full of surprises: he is sometimes caustic and mocking, sometimes enthusiastically emotional, sometimes reasonable and extremely accurate. As an appendix, the book includes Nabokov’s articles “Abram Hannibal”, “Notes on Prosody” and “Translator’s Notes”. The book presents a facsimile reproduction of Pushkin’s lifetime edition of “Eugene Onegin” (1837) with notes by the poet himself. The publication is of interest to specialists - philologists, literary scholars, translators, teachers, as well as all admirers of the works of Pushkin and Nabokov. Source Djvu: The text of the book was translated from the original language using an artificial intelligence program. For the most part, the translation of the text is of very high quality, but in some cases, due to the imperfection of the technology, there may be incorrect phrase translations in the text, as well as single words and expressions may not be translated.
