Having conquered Russia, the Asian hordes invade Europe, destroying cities and turning the population into slaves. The invaders are opposed only by a handful of powerless partisans... The fantastic and monarchical dystopia “Circles of Times” by the prominent Russian fiction writer I. F. Nazhivin (1874–1940) recalls the fears of the “Pan-Mongolian” invasion that gripped Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story was created by a writer in exile at the turn of the 1920s and is being republished for the first time. Attached is a review by F. Ivanov (1922).
