Ivan Fedorovich Nazhivin (1874–1940) is a famous writer of Russian diaspora, the author of more than two dozen historical novels. The novel “Cossacks”, first published in 1928 in Paris, is dedicated to one of the largest and bloodiest uprisings against the authorities in the history of Russia – the Peasant Revolution war of 1670–1671, led by Cossack ataman Stepan Razin.
