Autumn 1942. Left without parents, sixteen-year-old Isla Quinn and her younger brother Miles go to the provincial town of Sterling, where the family of their mother’s old friend Mrs. Cliffton is ready to shelter them. Їхній шлях до нового життя в Стерлінгу сповнений не лише страху та невизначеності, але й таємниць, які чекають на розкриття. Особливо вражає, як старий збірник поем Шекспіра стає ключем до розгадки таємниць містечка. Книга спонукає задуматися про важливість пам'яті, сімейних зв'язків та впливу минулого на наше сьогодення. Хоча переклад іноді має недоліки, загальна якість тексту не заважає насолоджуватися історією.
