Роман "Про старих людей, про те, що проходить повз" став для мене справжнім відкриттям. Луї Куперус майстерно змальовує життя аристократичної сім'ї, чий добробут та зовнішній вигляд приховують безліч таємниць і скелетів у шафах. Чуттєвість персонажів, їхні внутрішні конфлікти та боротьба з власними пристрастями створюють надзвичайно напружену атмосферу, яка тримає в напрузі до останньої сторінки. Особливо вразила динаміка між головним героєм Лотом Паусом та його нареченою, яка відображає складність людських стосунків. Хоча переклад тексту іноді має недоліки, це не заважає насолоджуватися глибиною і красою думок автора. Я б рекомендував цю книгу всім, хто цінує літературу, сповнену емоцій та філософських роздумів про життя, любов і моральні цінності. Це справжній шедевр, який залишає по собі глибокий слід у душі читача.
