Nicholas Speakman (1893–1943) is considered one of the founders of American geopolitics. Speakman is characterized by a utilitarian approach, a clear desire to develop an effective geopolitical formula with the help of which the United States can quickly achieve world domination. This can be achieved, says Speakman, by creating a special geopolitical reality, a “new Atlantis”, connected by the commonality of Western culture, the ideology of liberalism and democracy. Carl Schmitt (1888–1985) is a German geopolitician who had a huge influence on the development of European political theory of the 20th–21st centuries . Unlike the “Atlantists,” he believed that the main struggle for world domination was not at sea, but on land, and developed the theory of “nomos” - a new order of continental governance. Despite the difference in views between Speakman and Schmitt, many researchers believe that this just ways to achieve the same goal - Western power over the world. Now for the first time the Russian reader is given the opportunity to form his own opinion on this matter.
