James Joyce (1882–1941) is a great Irish writer, a classic and at the same time a destroyer of classics with its canons, a man to whom, more than anyone else, new literary schools and movements of the 20th century owe their birth. He entered the history of world literature as the author of the novel "Ulysses", which became one of the greatest books in the entire history of literature. The first volume presents all the writer's prose preceding this great novel, in the best translations to date: the collection of stories "Dubliners", the novel “Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man,” as well as the so-called “virtual” prose of Joyce, early attempts at writing by the future genius, works not published during his lifetime, containing the seeds of future masterpieces.
