One of the best modern German writers, Uwe Timm (b. 1940), back in 1981, composed a kind, funny and educational story on behalf of the Munich mouse Stefan, who had the opportunity to travel by train and ship, visit Switzerland, France and England, experience many exciting adventures, make new friends and happily return to your beloved family. In 2002, Timm revised the text and the book was published with illustrations by the famous artist Axel Scheffler. In Germany, “The Traveling Mouse” is included in the curriculum for elementary school. For adult Russian readers, this story may be reminiscent of the adventures of the brownie Kuzi, or even Homer’s “Odyssey.” For middle school age.
