Everything is mixed up in the Lunins’ house. Mikhail Alexandrovich is unexpectedly sent on a long business trip abroad, from where he returns sick and disappointed in life. Vadim’s life plans are interfered with by his love for his fellow student, the bright hippie dissident Inna. Faced with a choice: love or career, he chooses the latter. And he loses, having received in return a new love - and a new homeland. Oleg, who seemed to have found himself in coaching, becomes an object of provocation by the special services and is forced, like his father and grandfather, to hide in the distant outskirts of a vast country - in the company of that same Inna Young Franz, who showed off at the Olympic parade, becomes a star of the Soviet screen.
