This is the second book by Yana Zhemoytelite, published by the Vremya publishing house: the print run of the first, the novel Tanyusha Was Good, sold out in a month. The themes and plots of the writer from Petrozavodsk would, perhaps, be suitable for “women’s prose,” but you won’t find nervous sighs here. Zemojtelite writes succinctly, briefly, harshly, in a northern way. “This wonderful fictional world, not real, but not fantastic either, is invented by the authors, and they settle in it, and they feel good there” (Alexander Kabakov). Yana Zhemoytelite really lives well and freely among her diverse and even incredible heroes. Romance plot, mystical thriller, psychological drama. But they are all, perhaps, about one thing: about the difference between us. We are very different - in blood, in consciousness, in the air we exhale, even in biological species - who is a person, and who, perhaps, is a dog or even a wolf... So why are we - through this difference, in spite of it, fighting with it - so love each other? And what does love lead to when it is hit by total incompatibility?
