Immediately after the end of the First World War, in the countries that took part in it, memoirs of both direct participants in the battles and those who developed operations at headquarters or commanded formations, fronts and squadrons began to be published one after another.K The most notable of all the memoirs published in Germany in the 20s are the memoirs of Admiral Reinhard Scheer, who commanded the High Seas Fleet during the war, and Captain 2nd Rank Georg Haase, a senior artillery officer famous for his skillful shooting of the battle cruiser Derflinger. This issue includes a description of the first battle, called by R. Scheer a “proper squadron battle,” with the participation of battlecruisers on both sides. It was the fight at Dogger Bank. The battle ended tragically for the only pre-dreadnought cruiser "Blücher" in service - the last armored cruiser built for the German fleet, which received its name in 1908 in honor of Gebhard Blücher - the general, the hero of Waterloo, who commanded the Prussian army in the war with France in 1813-1815. G. Haase's description of the Battle of Jutland and the situation prevailing at that moment on the Derflinger is also interesting, because it gives an idea of the level of development of military shipbuilding and weapons of that time and shows the naval battle as if the reader himself was a participant in those , dramatic events long gone into history. The almanac includes excerpts from R. Scheer’s books “The German Navy in the World War.” Voenmornzdat 1940 and G. Haase "Two Great White Nations". Leipzig 1920 (A shortened translation published in the magazine "Marine Collection", Nos. 7-12, 1920). In addition, the release gives a version about the battle at Dogger Bank and the English side. (The text is taken from the magazine "Sea Collection", Nos. 7-12 for 1920). The names of the ships are given as they were printed in the indicated sources. The text is supplemented with photographs from the archives of the magazine "Sea Historical Collection" and the collections of I.L. Bunich, N. G. Maslovaty and V. V. Skoptsov.
