In the last quarter of the 20th century, obesity became a social problem in countries with a high level of economic development, including Russia, where at least 30% of the population is overweight. Excess weight is clearly associated with a manifold increase in the risk and incidence of many diseases. Obesity significantly reduces life expectancy by an average of 3–5 years with slight excess weight, up to 15 years with severe obesity. Excess weight remains a pressing problem, despite the fact that almost every month a new remedy or method appears that guarantees weight loss. . The huge industry for the production of all kinds of pills, weight loss belts and other miraculous ways to lose weight is thriving, and the body weight of the average Russian is increasing year by year. One of the reasons for this situation is that most methods of weight normalization eliminate the effect, not the cause. Meanwhile, psychology and psychotherapy have very real and very numerous approaches and methods that can help a person get rid of overeating and excess weight. It is psychotherapy that gives the most reliable results in transforming one’s own appearance. And in developed countries, where in the last century they moved away from many treatment methods still practiced in Russia, they usually turn to psychotherapists to lose weight. It is psychotherapy that normalizes eating behavior and helps give up old habits. The reference book sufficiently presents theoretical issues on the psychology of food addiction, but first of all, it is a collection of psychotherapy techniques, or, more precisely, exercises that a psychologist (psychotherapist, consultant) can use in his practical work. work. This book is a guide for psychologists and counselors working in various institutions (public and private clinics, hospitals and community health centers) with patients suffering from eating disorders and nutritional (associated with overeating) obesity.
