Oh New York! Dream Town. Fairytale city. The city is a magnet for every seeker of adventure, inspiration and, what’s more, fame. It attracts 17-year-old Jocelyn from distant France - where else to study music if not in the birthplace of jazz! Who knows, maybe, having left the ship on American soil, he took the first step towards success on Broadway?.. In the meantime, the young Parisian is being helped to get comfortable in the New World by charming neighbors who also dream of conquering New York. Each was brought to the city by its own story: dancer Manhattan is on the trail of a family secret, model Chic dreams of a luxurious life, actress Paige is looking for true love, and saleswoman Hadley hopes to meet again the man who once changed her destiny. It's 1948 and the post-war world is full of new hope and opportunity. This seems like the best time to make a fast career on stage or in films. To compose a song or write a novel. To fall in love or find forever friends. To dance, have fun and for the time being not think that one of your carefree friends and girlfriends is leading a double life. Enjoy your youth and not pay attention to the posters of protesting students and newspaper headlines about spies in Hollywood. French writer Malika Ferjuh (born 1957) is the author of dozens of popular novels for children and teenagers, winner of the prestigious Prix Sorcières. Before turning to literature, she studied film history - it is not surprising that the Broadway Dreamers trilogy turned out to be romantic, like Breakfast at Tiffany's, poignant, like All That Jazz, and atmospheric, like the films of Woody Allen. Nina Khotinskaya’s excellent translation has preserved in Russian all the charm of the original. It’s impossible to tear yourself away from the book – let’s have dinner with Cary Grant!
