In 1961, Castaneda was studying medicinal plants and met an old Indian, Juan Matus. Thus began Castaneda’s many-year journey beyond ordinary reality, into other worlds, described in fascinating detail by him in a nine-volume epic. The name of Carlos Castaneda is well known throughout the world. Already his first work, published in 1968 under the intriguing title “The Teachings of Don Juan: The Path of Knowledge of the Yaqui Indians,” was a fantastic success: 300 thousand copies were sold in a short time. This inspired the author to publish a whole series of books in which he described in fascinating detail his journey beyond ordinary reality, into other worlds. Over the next thirty years, a dozen more books of the “spiritual series” were published, and each was expected to be successful and popular. They generated an extensive literature and were translated into 17 languages. We can say that before the reader is an “anthropoietic thriller”, a story about the spiritual path of a person who longs to gain freedom and true knowledge on the “path with the heart.” “The path with the heart is not the path of continuous introspection or mystical flight, it is the path of attracting the joys and sorrows of the world . This world, where each of us is connected at the molecular level with every other amazing and dynamic manifestation of existence, this world is the hunting ground of the warrior.” Carlos Cesar Arana CASTANEDA. (1925(?)-1998)
