The famous English orientalist and archaeologist, an employee of the British Museum for many years, Wallis Budge devoted his entire life to the study of Ancient Egypt, as evidenced by about one hundred and thirty research papers written by him. In this book, Budge traces the life of Egypt from the late Neolithic period and ends with the reign of the first three royal dynasties. The author devotes a significant part of the story to the results of archaeological excavations, which served as a source of new information about the course of the history of Egypt and the antiquity of its civilization. The author carefully and scrupulously analyzes the cultural traditions of the Egyptians: religious beliefs, funeral rites, writing features, studies household items, clothing and weapons. Budge devotes a special chapter to the chronology of the reign of the royal dynasties.
