Wallis Budge (1857-1934) is a star of the first magnitude in world Egyptology. An energetic archaeologist who conducted excavations in Ethiopia, Mesopotamia, Sudan, and Egypt. An outstanding Orientalist scholar, awarded the title of nobility for his works. Creator of the original transcription of the Egyptian language. Author of many books about Ancient Egypt that have become classics. Having introduced the Russian reader to the works of W. Budge for the first time, we can happily state that they found a grateful audience. This book presents two works by the outstanding Egyptologist E.A. Wallace Budge's "Egyptian Religion" and "Egyptian Magic". In the first of these, the author describes the views of the ancient Egyptians on the resurrection and life after death, gleaned from original sources, the main of which is a large collection of religious texts, collectively known as the Book of the Dead. “Egyptian Magic” continues the study of the traditions of the ancient Egyptians, talks about their belief in magic - through the power of magical names and spells, images, amulets and ceremonies. The author has a deep, non-standard approach to these interesting topics, and many of the facts given in the book and opinions have not yet been reflected in modern scientific literature.
