The author dedicated his work to the era to which the origins of modern European civilization go back. From there originate statehood and law, writing and culture, science and education, the genesis and further progressive development of which on the European continent go back more than one millennium. The textbook offers readers a systematic presentation of the history of Ancient Greece from the birth of statehood in Crete to the conquest of the Hellenistic states by Rome. In the book, the author sought to show the general patterns and specific features of the development of ancient Greek civilization in the context of historical processes that took place in the ancient Mediterranean in the 3rd-1st millennium BC. e.
