The monograph examines the history of French Christian democracy in the second half of the 20th century: the 1960s, when structural changes and broad pluralism of Christian democratic movements took place: the 1970s, when Christian democracy closely interacts with giscardism, 1980s The 1990s - the period of stabilization of electoral and political influence and, finally, the 1990s - the beginning of the 21st century - the period of decline of traditional political culture and the evolution of the center associated with the activities of Francois Bayrou. The focus is on political strategy, ideas, the specifics of the electorate, features of political culture, as well as issues of political, social, economic and cultural development of France in the second half of the 20th century. The monograph is based on the archival funds of the French Christian Democratic parties and the presidential archive of V. Giscard d 'Esten, press materials, sociological surveys, research in the field of history, electoral geography and political science by Russian and foreign specialists.
