The book by Hong Kong philosopher Yuk Hui is a study of the historical and metaphysical question of technology. Drawing on the ideas of Jean-François Lyotard, Gilbert Simondon, Bernard Stiegler and presenting a history of modern Eastern thought (including such figures as Feng Yulan, Mou Zongsan and Keiji Nishitani), largely unknown to Russian readers, the author sheds new light on the question of technology in China. Why has technology never been thematized in Chinese thought? Why has time never been a real issue for Chinese philosophy? How was the traditional concept of Qi transformed in relation to the Tao as China embraced technological modernity and Westernization? In The Question of Technology in China, a systematic historical review of the basic concepts of traditional Chinese thought is accompanied by an original exploration of these issues and leads to the question: how Chinese thought can today contribute to a critical reassessment of globalized technology from a cosmotechnical perspective? The publishing layout of the book is saved in PDF A4 format.
