The author of the article (book) is the late Kostroma Marxist Avenir Solovyov. In the first part of the work, he brings together old political opponents: the Bolshevik leader V. Lenin, the “father of Russian Marxism” G. Plekhanov and the Cadet economist N. Ustryalov. The subject of their correspondence discussion is whether backward Russia is ready for socialism, which is what the Soviet Republic represents in economic terms. The second part of the article is devoted to the analysis, again, of the economic structure of the USSR, but this time of the Stalinist period, the problem of combining socialism with commodity-money relations.
