The action of Alexander Stesin’s new book takes place far from the African routes familiar to his reader. Here are collected stories about travels through Ugra, Siberia, Alaska, Mexico and Japan. Stesin’s travelogues remind us—perhaps just in time—that cultural barriers do not exclude communication and that trying to understand another culture enriches one’s own. These texts are written with constant humor - and respect for the people met and places seen. The book also includes poems that Stesin was inspired by his travels. Alexander Stesin (b. 1978) is a doctor, poet, and prose writer. He has published in Russian and foreign magazines, published three books of poetry and two books in the “Letters of a Russian Traveler” series (“Come and Take It,” 2013 and “Dinner for the Fire,” 2015). Lives in New York.
