The more years pass since the so-called “perestroika”, the more convinced you become that you were a witness to the greatest crime conceived against the people who preserved at least some remnants of Christian spirituality in the 20th century. Strictly speaking, there was no “perestroika”; its name became a screen behind which treason and betrayal were hidden. In real life, “reforms” did not exist, and their names were camouflage to cover up criminal acts of theft of national wealth. Therefore, remembering now the people who led “perestroika” at that time, I, as a historian, cannot consider them as public or government figures, but see them as criminals. If they lived in the Russian Empire of the 19th century, their actions would fall under an article of the criminal code, which would be punishable by the gallows or hard labor.
