Dedilovo in the 16th–17th centuries, when the city of Dedilov was one of the main links in the defense of the borders of the Russian state from the Crimean Tatars. The main force that repelled the invasion of the Tatars, as well as conducting short-range and long-range reconnaissance in the Wild Field, were the Cossacks settled in Dedilov.
