The first publication of the October issue of IL is entitled “Time of the Heart” and is a correspondence between two poets: Ingeborg Bachmann (1926–1973) and Paul Celan (1920–1970). These two authors now have the widest recognition and, as translator Alexander Belobratov reminds in a detailed introduction to the collection, they are “among the brightest stars on the poetic horizon of German-language poetry after the Second World War.” Despite all the dissimilarities in their destinies (both life and creative), Tselana and Bachman had a long love relationship - very deep, very difficult, very significant for both. “The meeting of two poets, two worlds, two hearts in their personal correspondence” is what this selection shows. Translation by Tatyana Baskakova and Alexander Belobratov.
