Gilles Deleuze, according to one of his contemporaries, was a true cinephile: “He understood earlier and better than us that in a sense, society itself is cinema.” Deleuze not only developed a culture of film watching, but also sought to understand what role philosophy could play in understanding cinema and what, on the contrary, cinema irreparably changed in philosophy. He was one of the few who, while thinking about cinema, also tried to think with its help. Perhaps no philosopher has written about cinema in such detail from the point of view of serious philosophy, without at the same time turning cinema into a simple object of study, which is enough to look at from the outside.
