The book contains for the first time a representative corpus of works by A. K. Zholkovsky and the late Yu. K. Shcheglov (1937–2009) on the poetics of expressiveness (model “Theme - Techniques of Expression - Text”), created in the era of “storm and stress” structuralism and have not lost any of their methodological value and analytical fascination. In the first part of the collection, the principles and achievements of the poetics of expressiveness are demonstrated through the example of a filigree analysis of the invariant structure of L. Tolstoy’s textbook children’s stories (“Shark”, “Jump”, “Kitten”, “Girl and Mushrooms”, etc.), which reveal significant similarities with “ adult" works of the writer. The second section describes in detail the techniques of expressiveness themselves, their subtypes and relationships with themes and with other techniques. The book is designed for an interested reader, to whom it will provide not only an original tool for philological description, but also a special look at the ideological and artistic structure of a literary text.
