Gabriel Marcel's work "To Be and to Have" has been translated into Russian for the first time. This relatively small work includes entries from 1928–1933, united under the title “Metaphysical Diary,” and summarizing them, “Essay on the Phenomenology of Possession.” The title of the work—“To Be and to Have”—reveals the essence of the ontological choice facing the individual . She can rise to authentic being, thereby realizing her only and fundamental freedom. But being is transcendental in relation to the world of subject-object division, which Marcel calls the world of possession. Therefore, access to it is possible only through overcoming the latter.
