“The End of History and the Last Man” is one of the most famous works of philosopher and futurist Francis Fukuyama, which has become an international bestseller and has been translated into several dozen languages. Capitalist liberal democracy, Fukuyama argues in his work, is the end of history as we know it. Modern technologies increasingly contribute to the homogenization of different cultures; individual achievements prevail over collective ones. The result is a kind of “capitalist utopia” - an ideal consumer society that has stopped historical development, closed in on itself and, therefore, absorbed only by internal problems. What will the philosophy of the “last people” become? And won’t a material utopia become a spiritual dystopia?
