The early work of Alain Robbe-Grillet (born in 1922) overturned the usual ideas about the genre of the novel and marked the beginning of the “new novel” - one of the most revolutionary phenomena in world literature of the 20th century. The book includes three works by the writer: “Erasers” (1953), “The Spy” (1955) and “Jealousy” (1957). In “Erasers” we seem to be dealing with a detective story, where everything is in its place: murder, investigation, a detective who is on the trail of a criminal, witnesses, physical evidence, but for some reason these elements do not add up...
