Working as an editor of literary publications and engaged in literary teaching, the author hatched the idea of some kind of entertaining literary encyclopedia that would be of interest to both connoisseurs of literature and its readers. He partly embodied this idea in this book-literary calendar, in calendar notes that absorbed time - from antiquity to the present day. The author believes that the reader will pay attention to how literary tastes changed over time, how great discoveries in literature subjugated their time and opened the way to new achievements, new discoveries - the road along which current literature follows and the literature of the future will follow .
