The novel-play “No More Bets” was written by Sartre back in 1943, but published only after the end of the war, in 1947. In a long line in the office where posthumous destinies are decided in the afterlife, two people collide: a beautiful woman, poisoned by her husband for the sake of an inheritance, and a young revolutionary shot by a traitor. They collide, start talking to get rid of the boredom of waiting, and... manage to love each other so much that they unexpectedly get a second chance to return to the world of the living, because a mistake crept into the papers of the “heavenly bureaucracy” - these two, destined for each other, are so and did not meet in life. But there is a condition - in just one day, lovers must find each other on earth, otherwise they will return to the afterlife forever...
