“A fire and a story, mystery and history are two irreplaceable elements of literature. But how can one element, whose presence serves as irrefutable proof of the loss of the second, testify to its absence, dispel its shadow and memory of it? Where there is a story, the fire is extinguished; where there is a mystery, there can be no history...” We bring to your attention a collection of philosophical essays published in 2014 in Italy. The publication contains the works of the Italian writer Giorgio Agamben in Russian translation. These texts, in addition to the essay “What is the act of creation?” previously unpublished. “Easter in Egypt” reproduces the text of a speech at a correspondence seminar between Ingeborg Bachmann and Paul Celan “Let's find the words. Letters 1948–1973.” The text “On the Difficulty of Reading” was presented at the round table “Reading is a Risk” as part of the Fair of Small and Medium Publishing Houses in Rome in December 2012. From Book to Screen is an edited version of a talk given at the Fondazione Cini in Venice in January 2010. (From the author’s note to the Italian edition.) The publishing layout is saved in a4.pdf format.
