The idol of the sixties of the last century, the most prominent representative of the so-called urban prose, one of the most popular Russian writers, Vasily Aksenov appears in the first section of this book in memoirs and essays of his many friends living not only in Russia, but also far beyond outside of it. Moreover, these are not only colleagues in the craft, writers and poets, but also people of other professions: artists, musicians, film and theater directors, journalists, physicists. Some of them, unfortunately, like Vasily Aksenov, are no longer among us, but their lines about him have been preserved. The second section of the book presents Vasily Aksenov’s correspondence with friends and loved ones. The third section consists of interviews with him taken by Russian and foreign journalists from 1980 to 2008. The book opens up to the reader a panorama of the social and literary life of the Soviet Union, emigration and modern Russia.
