The basis of the current book is the work of the last four to five years, written after the preparation and publication in our publishing house of the previous book by V. M. Esipov, “Pushkin in the Mirror of Myths.” Most of them were published in periodicals or in special publications on Pushkin studies. The first section consists of works of a biographical nature. The second section, “Commenting on Pushkin,” includes articles and notes that arose as a result of preparations for the publication of a new collected works of the poet, a planned work of the Institute of World Literature named after. A. M. Gorky, whose employee is the author. The third section consists of works of a more general nature, which examine interpretations of some Pushkin’s works and other works of Russian classics that seem dubious or incorrect to the author. The final section, as in the previous book, is addressed to the classics XX century, to some problems associated with the work of Alexander Blok and Anna Akhmatova.
