Faulkner wrote his first novel, “Soldier's Award” (originally titled “Distress Signal”) in New Orleans in 1925.
The plot of the novel is related to Faulkner’s desire to become a military pilot during the First World War. As you know, he entered a military pilot school in Canada, but the war ended before he graduated from school.
The novel was published in 1926 and was not successful, although it was noticed by many outstanding writers in America. After the Second World War, the novel was republished and sold in large quantities.
